Natalie Smyth, Staff Director

I graduated from Bishop Grosseteste University in 2002 with a BA Hons in Primary Education. Shortly after graduating I joined my fiancé in Cyprus, where he was serving in the military.  I was extremely fortunate to work in a multi-lingual school in their foundation stage unit.

Upon my return to England I joined a supply agency and in September 2004 I walked through the doors of ‘Spitalgate C of E Primary School’.  From the moment that I walked through the doors I knew that this was the  school and community that I wanted to be part of.

During my 13 years at the academy I have seen many changes and I feel that the journey that lies ahead of us is an extremely exciting one where we can make a significant impact on each individual’s education. My heart lies with the academy and the families that I have been lucky enough to work alongside.  I can guarantee that I will always give one hundred per cent to my duties as a staff director. I am currently on the senior leadership team of St John's, leading the EYFS team and phonics.  In addition I am a Designated Safeguarding Lead for St John's.

I am lucky enough to also be a mum to my two wonderful boys, Max and Samuel; my husband and I enjoy spending quality family time together. My hobbies include reading and shopping!
