Steve Mitchell, Co-opted Director
Chair of the Finance and Audit Committee
Stephen joined the Board in January 2015 and chairs the Finance and Audit Committee.
He is the Chief Operating Officer and Deputy CEO for Mowbray Education Trust.
He qualified as an accountant in 2004 and made the move to industry in 2005 when he became the youngest ever Chamber of Commerce director.
He won the Yorkshire SME Finance Director of the Year award in 2008, and was shortlisted for the National Institute of Directors Young Director award in the same year. He was also listed in the 'Who's Who of Britain's Business Elite' between 2008 and 2011.
He is an accredited trainer on capacity building for the EU, UN, World Bank and has also delivered training courses on behalf of the U.K Government. He is the only person to have led projects that have been finalists at 3 World Chamber of Commerce awards, and has developed and delivered business support projects in 16 countries across 4 continents.
He is now responsible for all of the non-teaching aspects of Mowbray Education Trust, supports the School Business Manager of the West Grantham Academies Trust, and is working with the CEO to further develop sponsor and support opportunities.
He is also a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Arts (FRSA), Fellow of the National Association of School Business Managers (FNASBM), Chartered Manager (CMgr), and a member of the Institute of Directors (IoD), and will complete his MBA from the University of Nottingham later in 2016.
