Six students from the West Grantham Academy St Hugh's were invited to take part in the International Space Challenge at RAF Waddington on Monday 26 June.
The students were set the challenge of designing and building a prototype hotel in lower orbit. The twist to the challenge... it all had to be completed in Spanish!
Our students rose to the challenge and worked as a team to create an exciting and thoughtful hotel. They used their scientific minds to plan and design what the hotel would need, then worked on a marketing strategy which was to be presented in front of a panel of judges.
The opportunity to work alongside so many professionals was fantastic and students gained a solid understanding of different career opportunities from the RAF and civilian industry.
The team consisted of Gjesika Cuku, Katie Hitchcock, William Burton, Sheena Colton, Gabriela Carvalho and Natalia Dias. All members worked extremely hard and Gjesika was awarded a prize for her efforts in the spoken presentation task - the judges where astounded by her ability to conduct a complex conversation so fluently.
Many congratulations to the entire team!
