Emma Austen, Parent Director and Vice Chair of the Board
I have been a civil servant for over eleven years, working in a number of different departments across the country and indeed the world. My currently role is within the Department of Work and Pensions as the Head of health and Safety, although a challenging national role I am predominantly working out of Grantham thus allowing me more time to work with the Trust.
I took on the role as Parent Director to ensure that the vital parent voice of praise and concern was heard at all levels. I am also the Deputy Chair of the St John’s PTFA so you will often see me selling cake or raffle tickets. I find these roles complement each other ensuring I have the rounded views of parents to take to the Directors.
My husband is serving with the RAF and is away most of the week. We have a son who attends St Johns. I enjoy socialising with friends, hitting the gym when time allows and am the team manager for my son’s rugby team.
