Pastoral support is paramount at St Hugh’s. We strongly believe that students need to be taught and worked with in a holistic manner. As such, we have a strong pastoral team who work hard to make sure that students are happy and safe whilst they are at the academy. The student support team work closely and interlink with the behaviour team, the learning support team and the safeguarding team, as well as working with parents and students. The teams deal with day to day issues such as, forgotten lunch money, illness, first aid and attendance as well as being the first point of contact for any bullying or friendship issues.

The academy has a strong anti-bullying policy and ethos. Bullying is not tolerated. At this academy we have high standards regarding behaviour, our pastoral team endeavour to support all pupils, to enable progress in every lesson. We have a good working relationship within the academy and with external bodies including County council support teams. There is a great deal of experience within the teams supporting individual pupils.  Our aim is to establish and maintain a relationship with our pupils to ensure that they know there is an adult they can approach if they are worried or in difficulty.

The pastoral support team liaise with the school nursing team and Grantham College, among other external agencies to help enable the academy provide a comprehensive support network for all students.
