The School Council is run by a number of children in years 4, 5 and 6.  Each year the School Council members from year 6 deliver an assembly to invite new members to join.  New members are interviewed and selected by the existing School Council members.  The School Council members then meet once a week on a Thursday to plan what they are going to do during that term, be it posters, entry forms, emailing staff or just brainstorming ideas.

At the beginning of each academic year, the School Council will sit together and come up with a plan of what they would like to do throughout the year, whether this be fundraising or helping to bring something into the academy that we need or need to develop.

The School cCuncil have organised many fundraising events, raising money for a number of charities by organising bake sales, non-uniform days, sponsored activities, competitions and bag packing events.  Through this fundraising they have raised money for a number of different charities such as NSPCC, Children in Need, Comic Relief and Sports Relief, Jeans for Genes, and most recently Readathon.  They have also built up links with Sainsbury’s who help with fundraising events, particularly Comic Relief as their official sponsor.

Over the past two years, the School Council have raised nearly £2500 for these charities!
